When I was 21 and just getting serious with makeup I went into the department store and asked a Lancome artist for their assistance about what colors would look best on me, and how to apply it.  While working with me, she said something I have never forgotten. She said, "Sherri you have beautiful eyes,  if I were you I would play those up.”  I expected her to notice my flaws and tell me how to correct them. Instead she focused on what she saw as my strengths and how to bring them out. That experience was a valuable lesson for me on focusing on the positive. Since that day I have always tried to look at what I like about me and not the negatives. Every woman has something unique and beautiful about her. Whether it is flawless skin, stunning lips, captivating eyes or cute dimples when you smile. Find out what yours is and play it up!

One of the most frequently asked questions I hear is, “How do I make my eyes stand out?” So lets start there. If you want your eyes to really pop, remember that opposites attract. Choose shadows, liners and mascara that contrast with your eye color. Whether your eyes are blue, green, brown or hazel, using opposing makeup colors will always make them dazzle.

Below are a few basic guidelines to follow when choosing colors for the eyes.

Warm hair/warm skin: warm bronze, copper, peach

cool hair/cool skin: taupe, cool browns, pinky peach, mauve

warm/cool combination: either group of colors

Warm hair/warm skin: brown, rust, bronze, red brown

Cool hair/cool skin: blue, mauve, plum,pink
